The Free Flow system is a toll collection method that allows tolls to be paid without stopping or slowing down at barriers. Specific detection portals installed along the route allow the identification and classification of vehicles as they drive by, enabling the amount due for the stretch of motorway actually travelled to be calculated automatically. The Free Flow system brings advantages to users and benefits for the environment: without altering traffic flows, safety levels are increased and pollutant emissions from queueing vehicles are reduced. This innovative system will progressively remove tollgates and motorway barriers for a smoother travel experience and a more sustainable infrastructure.
